The path that connects the village of La Matea with the source of El Berral, in the municipality of Santiago-Pontones, has been refurbished thanks to the work of the Unión de Empresarios of this municipality. The work has been carried out voluntarily and altruistically by members of the association, as explained by the Diputación Provincial de Jaén.
A recovered route
The president of the Diputación, Juan Latorre, has visited the area to check the result of the works, accompanied by the deputy for Agriculture, Livestock, Environment and Climate Change, Isabel Uceda, by the mayor of Santiago-Pontones, Antonio Rodríguez, and by members of the group. Latorre has stated that with this intervention «this route has been recovered and beautified» and has stressed that the association's work serves «not only to preserve and improve its natural surroundings, but also for the economic and social revitalisation of this municipality».
Routes with sense
The recovery of the path is part of the project «Rutas con sentido», promoted by the Unión de Empresarios with the support of the Diputación. The initiative seeks to transform trails into themed sensory experiences linked to the five senses, through the use of recycled and sustainable materials, and is aimed at preserving paths such as the one in El Berral through community participation and at fostering connection with nature.
Who has taken part
The technical visit was attended by the president of the Diputación Provincial de Jaén, Juan Latorre; the deputy for Agriculture, Livestock, Environment and Climate Change, Isabel Uceda; the mayor of Santiago-Pontones, Antonio Rodríguez, and representatives of the Unión de Empresarios of the municipality.
