The president of the Diputación de Jaén, Juan Latorre, has visited the headquarters of the ALES Association of Parents of Children with Cancer, which serves about 25 families, twelve of them with hospital care, to analyze lines of collaboration between both entities.
The ALES Association of Parents of Children with Cancer currently supports around 25 families of minors affected by cancer and other haematological diseases. Of these, twelve receive hospital care. This was announced by the organisation during the working visit made by the president of the Provincial Council of Jaén, Juan Latorre, accompanied by the president of ALES, Óscar Moriana.
Social, psychological and educational support
ALES works to improve the quality of life of the affected minors and their families through social, psychological, educational and accompaniment support programmes, both within the hospital setting and outside it. It also offers individual therapies and provides care to other families who need support and advice related to this type of illness.
The association, made up of families of affected minors, opened its headquarters last April. At the meeting, Latorre praised the work carried out by the group and discussed with its representatives the lines of collaboration that the provincial Administration maintains with ALES.
What it means for families
The meeting serves to review the support that the Provincial Council provides to an organisation that accompanies families before, during and after treatment. The care extends to the hospital and home environments, with individual therapies and advice for those facing this type of illness.
The visit comes after the Provincial Council has held working meetings with other social organisations in the province. On October 16, as reported by the portal, Latorre met with those responsible for the Provincial Federation of Associations of People with Physical and Organic Disabilities of Jaén (Fejidif) to analyse their lines of collaboration and address the federation's 40th anniversary, which will be celebrated in 2027.
