The proceeds from the II Memorial Manuel Ibáñez «Manolín» now have a destination in Alcalá la Real: 6,062 euros that have gone in full to the ALEXAL association for the care and prevention of addictions. The handover ceremony was held at the Ayuntamiento on Monday, October 19, according to the Consistorio.

Seven more people in therapy

The president of ALEXAL, Francisco Alcalá, has explained that the organisation has reopened after the summer and has already added seven new people to its therapy sessions. The association serves its users free of charge and has the support of the Ayuntamiento to maintain its activity. Alcalá has stated that the money «will be especially good for us to keep growing and be able to help all people with some type of addiction». He has also called for more visibility for the association.

A match between veterans

The memorial was played on September 12 with a sports match between the veterans of the Unión Deportiva Almería and the Peña Madridista de Alcalá. More than 120 companies from the municipality took part in this second edition, with the backing of the Concejalía de Deportes and Manolín's family. The mayor, Marino Aguilera, has highlighted the charitable nature of the initiative and the work of ALEXAL in the municipality, and has congratulated the Peña Madridista for giving continuity to the memorial. On behalf of the peña, Francisco García has thanked the companies and the Ayuntamiento for their collaboration and has announced that the intention is to organise a third memorial. Mónica Hoces, Manuel Ibáñez's partner, has thanked the Ayuntamiento, the companies and the Peña Madridista for the effort to carry this edition forward and has stressed that the family is «grateful» that this charity tribute is being held in his name.
