The Diputación de Jaén has welcomed at the Parque del Olivar de Arjona half a hundred members of the world's oldest olive oil tasters association, based in Imperia (Italy), who have held their annual assembly in the province.

Tasting and sampling in Arjona
The reception took place in the Parque del Olivar in Arjona, where attendees took part in a tasting of typical Arjona sweets made with olive oil and a tasting of extra virgin olive oil led by Brígida Jiménez.
The programme for these days was drawn up by the Picualia cooperative in Bailén. It includes field visits to learn about quality production, masterclasses on tasting high-quality olive oils and olives, and visits to Jaén city and to Arjona, where they concluded the meeting. The participants arrived in the province the previous Friday.
The weight of the olive grove in the province
The president of the Diputación Provincial de Jaén, Juan Latorre, has stated that the olive grove and olive oil "make themselves felt in every sphere: from the economy to employment, industry, tourism, gastronomy, culture and art". Latorre added that the olive tree "is the sap of our land" and helps municipalities retain population and economic activity.
According to him, the province brings together more than 170 olive tourism experiences within the OleotourJaén strategy, with training, gastronomic and accessible tourism proposals aimed at families.
