Segura de la Sierra and Orcera host the thirteenth autumn edition of Música en Segura from Friday, November 6 to Sunday, November 8, with six concerts and an excursion through the region. Almost all tickets for the weekend performances are sold out, according to the festival director, Daniel Broncano. The event comes after the spring edition drew 7,500 spectators. For this autumn edition, the organization hopes to reach 10,000 across the thirteenth edition as a whole. The offerings these days are more intimate in format than those in May.

From Friday to Sunday, music in two municipalities

The programme begins on Friday, November 6 at the Iglesia de los Jesuitas in Segura de la Sierra with «Héroe desvelado», by countertenor Manuel Ruiz and the Íliber Ensemble, and a performance by Mehdi Aminian & Mohamad Zatari. On Saturday, November 7, Anna Fedorova and Pacho Flores & Jesús «Pingüino» González take the same stage, both concerts sold out. On Sunday, November 8 the festival moves to the Teatro de Orcera with «La Familia», a flamenco and Spanish dance piece created by Julio Ruiz. Throughout the weekend and at various times, «Atarjea» is offered, a musical piece conceived for Segura de la Sierra that brings melodies from oral tradition to a sound journey along the water paths from the mountain to the town. On Saturday morning there is also an excursion through the Peñalta mountain, at the Fuente de San Miguel de Benatae, to enjoy the landscape of the Sierra de Segura.

Concerts for schoolchildren in December

On December 1 and 2 the festival brings the musical tale «Pedro y el lobo», by Sergei Prokofiev, to the Teatro de Orcera and the Teatro Regio de Beas de Segura. It is the educational show aimed at primary and secondary school students. The audience of the Sierra de Segura has discounts available to ensure that ticket prices are not a barrier, as Broncano has explained. Information on times, prices and tickets can be found at the festival's listing in the JaénYa agenda. The presentation, held at the Iglesia de Santa Catalina Mártir of the former Convento de Santo Domingo de Jaén, was attended by the first vice-president of the Diputación and deputy for Economy, Finance, Assistance to Municipalities and Human Resources, Pilar Parra; the territorial delegate for Culture, Historical Heritage and Sport of the Junta in Jaén, José Ayala; the mayor of Segura de la Sierra, José Manuel Martínez; the manager of the Fundación Caja Rural de Jaén, Luis Jesús García Lomas; and the festival director, Daniel Broncano. The Diputación collaborates with the event.
