The SAFA auditorium in Úbeda will host the concert «Jaén suena: Patrimonio musical de una provincia» on Saturday, November 7, at 19:00. It will be performed by the Sociedad Filarmónica Ubetense Nuestra Señora de Gracia and brings together works by composers linked to the history of the province.

Free entry with reservation

Entry is free until full capacity, but it must be reserved in advance on the events page of the Universidad de Jaén. The programme includes pieces by Sebastián Valero, Victoriano García Alfonso, Pedro Morales, Alfredo Martos, Pedro Gámez Laserna, Manuel Antonio Herrera Moya and Emilio Cebrián. It will end with «Entre naranjos y olivos», an Andalusian dance composed by the concert's conductor, Cristóbal López Gándara.

Musical heritage of the province

According to the Universidad de Jaén, the aim is to make known the music created by authors from Jaén, with popular works and others that are little known. The director of the ensemble, Cristóbal López Gándara, says the intention is to make «a journey through the whole province through its music» and that this first concert brings together composers from different localities. The president of the Consejo Social of the Universidad de Jaén, Luis Jesús García-Lomas, has stated that heritage «is not enough to preserve it» and that it is necessary to make it known so that it stays alive. The vice-rector of Culture, Marta Torres, has indicated that the initiative is part of the University's cultural programme and is sponsored by the Consejo Social.

To attend

The concert is on Saturday, November 7, at 19:00 at the SAFA auditorium, in Úbeda. Entry is free, but it must be reserved in advance on the Universidad de Jaén events website.
