The Centre for Seasonal Workers of Martos is scheduled to open on November 16, as agreed by the Local Migration Commission meeting this Wednesday. The date will be adjusted if the olive campaign starts earlier: the mayor, Emilio Torres, explained that "everything will depend on the weather, but we expect the bulk of the harvest to be in the second week of November", so the opening and the rest of the resources will adapt to that schedule.

Places and services

The centre has 29 places: 24 for men, four for women and one adapted. It will offer breakfast, lunch, dinner, personal hygiene, transport and laundry to the people who come to work during the campaign. The information point located at the bus station will remain open from Monday to Friday from 09 to 14 hours. In the afternoon, attention is reinforced from 17 to 20 hours, by the Poblado Mundo mediator.

Security operation

Given the forecast of high turnout, a special security operation will be launched. Representatives of Cruz Roja, Cáritas, Poblado Mundo, CC OO, the Andalusian Employment Service (SAE), the Guardia Civil, the Local Police, the social worker of the programme for Attention to Settled Immigrant Population and the Municipal Social Services took part in the meeting. The meeting was chaired by the mayor, Emilio Torres, and the councillor for Equality, Ana Matilde Expósito.
