El Parque Deportivo La Garza, in Linares, has 6.7 million euros set aside in the budget project of the Regional Ministry of Culture, Historical Heritage and Sport for 2027. The money will go to finishing the first phase of the comprehensive remodelling of the facility and to improving the irrigation system, as detailed by regional minister Patricia del Pozo at the Culture Committee of the Andalusian Parliament.
In the province of Jaén there is also an allocation for the Puente Tablas archaeological site, where conservation work will be carried out on the excavated areas.
More money for culture and sport
The department's budget reaches 445.4 million euros, 32.3% more than the previous year. The increase is almost 110 million. Culture rises 7.34% to 153.34 million, while sport reaches 153.97 million, 133.32% more. That jump is explained by the 75.5 million loan to the company that manages the La Cartuja Stadium in Seville for the 2030 World Cup works. Without that item, sports infrastructure and activities grow 18.81%, from 65.9 to 78.4 million.
Total investments add up to 78.4 million. Among them are the rehabilitation of the former Banco de España in Huelva (7.7 million), the completion of the Museo del Flamenco in Jerez (2.28 million) and the Teatro Romano in Cádiz (1.95 million).
Aid for the cultural and sports sectors
The regional minister has put support for the creative and sports sectors at 47.8 million. Of that amount, 12.6 million go to the creative sectors and 15.3 to activities and programming; aid to sport adds up to 19.9 million.
For the first time, 1.5 million is allocated to studying and rehabilitating churches, convents and monasteries. Aid for sacred art (2.2 million) and for music bands (317,000 euros) is maintained. There will be calls for theatre, dance and circus (1.55 million), music (950,000 euros), fashion (500,000 euros) and the publishing industry (400,000 euros).
In sport, federations receive 8.1 million, local sports facilities 4.3 million and school-age and disability sport 850,000 euros. Club equipment will have 800,000 euros, double that of the previous year.
Del Pozo has stated that these accounts «reaffirm Culture, Historical Heritage and Sport as drivers for social and economic development».
