Flamenco returns to Andújar with an event that this year looks to one of the great masters of cante. The XIX Seminario de Estudios Flamencos is held on November 20, December 4 and 11 at the headquarters of the Peña Flamenca Los Romeros, from 21:30, with entry open to the public.
This edition is dedicated to Antonio Fernández Díaz, Fosforito, a cantaor from Puente Genil. Throughout his career he received the Llave de Oro del Cante in 2005, the Medalla de Andalucía, the Medalla de Oro al Mérito en las Bellas Artes and the Rafael Romero award in 2006.
Three days of lectures and cante
The programme combines lectures and performances. The first session, on November 20, will feature the lecture Origen y primeros pasos de Fosforito, by Pedro Alfonso Perales Luque, and a performance by Virginia Gámez, accompanied on guitar by Andrés Cansino.
The second day, on December 4, will have as speaker Francisco Carlos Casado Expósito, who will talk about La Llave de Oro del Cante y última época como gran maestro. Antonio Reyes will perform cante, Nono Reyes on guitar and Tate Núñez and Ramón Reyes on palmas.
The seminar will conclude on December 11 with the lecture Consagración, Concurso Nacional de Córdoba y festivales, given by Cristian Esparcia Jiménez. The artistic proposal will be by Segundo Falcón on cante and Paco Jarana on guitar.
All three sessions will be presented and coordinated by Paqui Esteban, director of Radio Andújar.
The seminar is organised by the Peña Flamenca Los Romeros with the collaboration of the Ayuntamiento de Andújar, within the framework of the agreement between both entities. The president of the peña, Antonio Gómez, has thanked the support of the Consistorio, of Sensa Experian and of Radio Andújar. The concejal de Cultura, Azucena Cepedello, has stated that the Ayuntamiento maintains its support for flamenco in its different expressions.
No registration is needed to attend: all three sessions are free entry until the capacity of the headquarters of the Peña Flamenca Los Romeros is full.
