What it is
Espeluy Castle was built after the place passed in 1321 to Díaz Sánchez de Biedma, lord of Estivel and Jabalquinto. In the late 16th century Saint Teresa of Ávila was cared for there after an accident while crossing the Guadalquivir, as she wrote in her «Book of the Foundations».
The festival recalls that history: in 2026, the re-enactment «When the miracle crossed the river» staged the saint's passage through Espeluy.
Where
At Espeluy Castle and around it; the food bar, in Pablo Iglesias park.
Customs and traditions
There is a market with crafts, live pottery, archery, sword and shield workshops, birds of prey, circus and children's games, aerial and fire shows, and fireworks from the castle. In 2026 «ajoharina» (a local stew) was cooked on Saturday and «migas» (fried breadcrumbs) on Sunday. The Town Council encourages visitors to come in period costume.
