Companies wishing to carry out the rehabilitation of the façade of the Alcalá la Real Town Hall and the final phase of the intervention in the surroundings of the Fuente Álamo watchtower have until November 25 to submit their bids. The Local Governing Board has approved the two contracting files, as reported by the Town Council. The town hall works go out to tender for 609,209.71 euros, VAT included. The work focuses on conserving, maintaining and consolidating the façade and on refurbishing the exterior of the building without touching its structure. The envelope will also be addressed to improve thermal and acoustic insulation and energy efficiency. The intervention is part of the Integrated Action Plan (PAI) of Alcalá la Real and is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER) 2021-2027 through the EDIL Plan. Bids for this contract are submitted on the Public Sector Contracting Platform.

A visitable tower and a space for ceremonies

The second contract, for 83,117.74 euros, corresponds to the conservation and enhancement of the surroundings of the Fuente Álamo watchtower. The final phase includes a double staircase inside the tower to make it visitable, as well as toilets, a small storeroom and interpretive panels of the archaeological complex. The space will also be added to the municipal premises available for civil ceremonies, such as weddings. The Town Council acquired from SAFA the plot where the tower stands in the previous term. Afterwards, the site hosted an International Archaeological Volunteering Camp in which young participants excavated and documented the farmhouse and the surroundings of the watchtower. The project has added archaeological assets such as a Roman-era oil mill and stone pools, has reused materials and has preserved the original trees, with new plant species. It has the authorizations of the Regional Ministry of Culture of the Junta de Andalucía. Companies interested in this second action can consult the file and submit their bids on the contracting platform until November 25.
