Users of Asociación Down Jaén have taken part in the training workshop «Pantallas en positivo. Conectados con seguridad», an activity with which the organisation wants its young people to know how to use technology in their daily lives, knowing both the opportunities it offers and the risks it entails.

Tools against deception

The training offers them tools to identify situations such as online scams, cyberbullying or deception on social media and digital platforms. The workshop is held together with the youth section of Cruz Roja in Jaén and the Instituto Andaluz de la Juventud (IAJ). The territorial delegate for Housing, Youth and Land Planning, Miguel Contreras, accompanied the users at the workshop and explained that the initiative «helps the boys and girls of Down Jaén to have greater knowledge about how to integrate the use of technologies into their daily lives, knowing the opportunities it offers but also the risks it entails».

The role of the IAJ

Contreras noted that the training addresses «aspects as important and current as social media or the use of the internet» and highlighted the work of Down Jaén with its young users together with the IAJ. The Instituto Andaluz de la Juventud is the body of the Junta de Andalucía competent in matters of youth, and in this activity it collaborates with the youth section of Cruz Roja in Jaén, which contributes its experience in the social and volunteering field.
