Monte Lope Álvarez, a district of Martos, celebrates a new edition of the Fiesta del Hoyo on November 6 and 7, now in its 28th year. Saturday, November 7 will be the big day: from 13:30 hours, 1,000 hoyos will be handed out among those attending, with the collaboration of cooperatives and companies from the olive oil sector. The hoyo is a bread roll filled with olives and cod, and the festival revolves around extra virgin olive oil and traditional recipes. Alongside the handout there will be a migas tasting.

Music, drawings and desserts

Saturday's programme will continue with a dance show by Irene García's dance school. Afterwards, diplomas will be presented to the pupils of the Fernando IV school for their participation in an exhibition of drawings about olive oil culture, with scenes of the harvest and production. In the afternoon there will be an exhibition and tasting of traditional desserts made by the village families, and the celebration will close with the musical group La Quinta Marcha. On Friday, November 6 the festival is dedicated to the elderly of the district, with a breakfast in their honour. The councillor for Fiestas, Ana M. Expósito, said during the presentation that «the tasting of a humble hoyo of bread with olives and cod holds tradition and culture, and it is important that this type of festival is not lost». The president of the Monte Lope Álvarez Residents' Association, Sacri Marco, and Pilar Cobo also took part in the event, according to the Martos City Council.
