Begíjar once again reenacts Christmas. The municipality celebrates on Friday, December 12, from 17:00 to 22:00, the third edition of its Living Nativity, an event that has become established in the local Christmas programme and that this year has a charity nature: the proceeds will go to Proyecto Ilusión de Baeza. The activity relies on the involvement of residents, groups and associations, who bring to life the different scenes and recreations of the birth of Jesus. That citizen collaboration is what has allowed the Nativity to work as a collective project since its first edition, according to the Begíjar Town Council.

From the Praetorian Guard to Proyecto Ilusión

The second edition, held in December 2025, introduced as a novelty the participation of the Praetorian Guard of Linares, which contributed historical recreations, music and atmosphere to different biblical scenes. On that occasion the donations collected were given to the Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer. This year the charity cause changes and goes to Proyecto Ilusión de Baeza. The Begíjar Town Council has thanked the involvement of the people, associations and groups that make the activity possible and has reaffirmed its support for the initiative and for local associations. The Council maintains that this work helps to energise the municipality, keep traditions alive and encourage citizen participation.
