The olive oil mills in the province of Jaén have until November 15 to apply for the subsidies with which the Diputación wants these industries to open up to tourist visits. The call is endowed with nearly 200,000 euros and is divided into two lines of financing, as detailed by the deputy of Promotion and Tourism, Francisco Javier Lozano. The main line accounts for 170,000 euros and covers works and improvements to the facilities. It includes visitor reception areas and sales of extra virgin olive oil, rooms for tastings, samplings, workshops, miller's breakfasts or gastronomic exhibitions. It can also be requested to improve tourist signage, to install content explaining the oil extraction process, to make the spaces accessible or to provide them with new public toilets. The maximum per project in this line is 20,000 euros. The second line has 20,000 euros and covers promotional material: videos about tourist services, brochures, educational notebooks and other media with information about the visit. Here the maximum aid per project is 4,000 euros. An olive oil mill can apply to both lines at the same time.

What must be submitted

Each application must include a project with all the planned activities, explaining the impact on the local tourist offer and the direct and indirect jobs generated. If the aid is for works, a descriptive and constructive report, plans and budget will be required. If it is for furniture or tourist information equipment, supplier budgets. Those same budgets are required for the second line. The complete rules and requirements can be consulted in the Boletín Oficial de la Provincia of October 29 and in the subsidies section of the Diputación de Jaén website, the Diputación page. The deadline to submit the application ends on November 15.
